NAME: Maya Herrera

TIMELINE PERIOD: Aftering getting shot and killed in Powerless 2x11.
BACKGROUND: Maya was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on November 9, 1979. Her twin brother, Alejandro and herself were very close. However. Alejandro fell in love with Gloria, and was married to the woman that Maya did not trust or liked. At the wedding reception, Maya caught Alejandro's bride in a heated embrace with another man - Gloria's ex-boyfriend was two years ago. Distraught, Maya started yelling and throwing a fit over this turn of events. In response, the man attacks. Maya wishes Gloria dead, and as a result, her power manifests. Maya's eyes turn black, emmitting poison, and effectively killing everyone at the wedding reception with the exception of her brother.
Maya runs away, and joins a convent in Zulia, Venezuela. Her brother tracks her down, and turns her over to the town's sheriff. Overcome with fright, Maya unwillingly uses her ability again and kills the sheriff. Alejandro holds Maya's hands, trying to calm her down, and reverses the effects of her ability. The sheriff is revived, but Maya and Alejandro escape town together before he realizes what had happened.
The Dominican reads Activating Evolution by Chandra Suresh, and learns more about this 'evolution'. She wants to cross the border, and run to New York City to find Dr. Suresh, and beg for a cure. This is difficult as now her brother and herself are wanted criminals for the massacre of so many innocent people.
Along their journey, they are trying to fix deals with various people to bring them over the border. However, Maya's uncontrollable power and sensitivity, kills all their helpers or scares them off.
In Mexico, Alejandro and Maya try to steal a car, but are spotted by the police. After a wild chase, they are both caught in imprisoned with this American, Derek. Maya uses her ability to kill everyone in the police station, and escape. Before they do though, Alejandro heals the people. Once revived, Derek asks to come along with Maya and Alejandro, claiming that he has a car.
The three are driving through the desert when they stumble upon a body in the middle of the road. Maya instantly runs to the man's side, and it is revealed that it is Sylar. They bring him back to their car, in which Sylar wakes up, and introduces himself as Gabriel Gray. Maya notes that Gabriel is an angel, making this a sign from God. She asks about New York and Chandra Suresh. Sylar is glad to take them.
On the way to New York, Sylar successfully murders both Derek and Alejandro without Maya noticing a thing despite her brother warning her about 'Gabriel'. The serial killer distracts the Dominican by pretending to fall in love with her, and Maya falls into his trap.
Arriving in New York, they crash Dr. Suresh's home. Mohinder warns Maya that Sylar is a killer, but she refuses to realize the truth. Sylar suddenly whips out a gun an threatens everyone, giving them orders. Mohinder is forced to cure Sylar's apparent illness as Maya sits by Molly, Mohinder's adopted daughter. She asks the little girl where her brother is, and Molly, using her ability to find people, says he 'isn't any where', meaning he's dead.
Putting two and two together, Maya becomes enraged and tries to attack Sylar for what he has done. Sylar shoots Maya, killing her, and she wakes up on a boat for Rivelata.
